Challenge

Cobase was facing a problem with loading large files into a relational database. The client’s SLA required the system to process 1000 transactions per second, but the actual throughput was only 400 transactions per second. This caused agitation and dissatisfaction for the client.

Solution

Our team at OpenX addressed the challenge by optimizing the complete application, which was written in Java. We implemented multithreading, interprocess communication between processes, launched multiple instances of the application, processed the complete file through batches, and processed files through streams. Large files were handled by specific instances.

We utilized tools such as Spring Integration, Spring Batch, and Apache Camel to help us achieve the client’s SLA. After applying these strategies, we achieved the client’s SLA and increased the system throughput to around 2000 transactions per second.
